Highways England has installed a short, two way cycle path alongsde the A64 at Musley Bank, west of Malton. It directly joins the road from Huttons Ambo with York Road, near the Malton Enterprise Park.
Cyclists from Malton can safely reach Huttons Ambo and wheel over the River Derwent suspension bridge to reach local roads to the south and perhaps on to York.
Good news for cyclists traveling by train with a bike, to and from Malton, Seamer and Scarborough. From Sunday May 19th, Transpennine Express will accept cycle reservations up to 10 minutes before a train’s departure from any station. This is a vast improvement on the previous and highly unpopular 24 hours notice that was introduced by TPE last year.
Details of how to reserve are found at Transpennine Express website.
In a rural area, some people have to drive their children to school. But in Ryedale’s towns and villages many families do live close enough to cycle to school. For many we need to make it safer for them to do so.
