Businesses, community and cycling groups across Yorkshire are being invited to a series of Tour de Yorkshire roadshows as the county gears up to host the major international cycle race. Helmsley and Pickering are delighted to have the race pass through their towns on Saturday 5 May.
The roadshows, delivered by Welcome to Yorkshire, are a great opportunity to come along and find out more about what is happening in Helmsley, Pickering and across the region during the Tour. The sessions will include a short presentation, detailed information of the new route, advice on how to make the most of this world-class event and a Q&A opportunity. A Ryedale bridge is set to close to traffic for about six weeks while it is repaired and resurfaced.
The closure of Kirkham bridge could mean a significant round-trip for visitors and residents of the village looking to cross the Derwent, with the nearest bridges being at Norton to the north and Howsham to the south.
Work on Kirkham Bridge is due to start on Monday, January 22. The road will be closed to traffic for the duration of the works with a signed diversion via Westow, Barton-le-Willows and the A64.
A new safe link for walkers and cyclists opens in North Dorset, a source of inspiration for similar groups in Ryedale.
