The government has realised that many journeys could be done by e-bike in rural areas, but do they know what the barriers are? There is a call for evidence below. We can prepare a response from Ryedale Cycle Forum to the call for evidence, to talk about the need for more funds to install safer routes, to encourage cycling. Please also respond directly if you’d like to.

NYCC Active travel routes
NYCC currently have an online form available for active travel suggestions to make North Yorkshire’s streets better for walking and cycling. A good opportunity to make suggestions about where new cycle routes or shared paths could be installed. Users have to register with the NYCC “my account” system but is then useful for other services and information, including reporting potholes.

Hovingham – Malton; A Path For Everyone – proposal DRAFT 1st September 2020

Please find details on progress so far on this important proposed routes. First, we want to tell you a little bit about the process of creating this route.
In planning this route, volunteers from Ryedale Cycle Forum are collaborating with Parish Councils, residents, Ryedale District Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Community First Yorkshire schools, local businesses, and others. If you have views or ideas; we would like to hear from you.
Our process is first get support in principal for the route from each Parish Council. All that have met so far have given this. Next we look at the route in detail with local representatives, before taking detailed suggestions back to the Parish Council, the NYCC Highways staff or the NYCC Rights of Way team.
