Application to remove a planned Cycle Path in the Meadowfield Estate – Amotherby
Important and Urgent – Deadline for objections imminent
Please be aware the developer is seeking a planning application to remove a previously agreed and conditioned cycle path from the housing development approved in Amotherby.
Please read the objection set out by “Paths for Everyone” below and we request that you also object to the application ASAP (presumably less comprehensively, but preferably using the same planning criteria). Otherwise there’s a risk that this path will be lost, impacting the wider objective of linking the Market Towns of Malton, Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering. The link to this application is:

Last few days to help Rob bring a coveted tourism accolade home to Yorkshire
People only have a few days left to cast their vote and help a North York Moors man bring a highly prized tourism accolade home to Yorkshire.
Rob Brown, who works for Dalby Forest Cycle Hub, is Yorkshire’s only contender out of the 10 nominees nationally to have been shortlisted to win VisitEngland’s Tourism Superstar Award 2024, a competition celebrating the nation’s unsung heroes who go that extra mile to ensure visitor experiences are special.
Now the public only have until midnight on the 24 March to place their vote for Rob, who has been nominated by the North York Moors National Park for his passion, care and unwavering dedication to ensure that everybody, whether disabled or non-disabled, has a fantastic experience of cycling in Dalby Forest.
In particular the National Park has singled out Rob’s enthusiasm and encouragement, which has not just helped equip people with the right skills to ride a bike but also transformed mindsets to help them achieve more – whether it’s helping somebody with a life-changing accident realise it is still possible to cycle with their family using an adaptive bike; or a child to ride unaided for the first time.
Catriona McLees, Head of Marketing and Communications at the North York Moors National Park adds: “Rob really deserves to be crowned this year’s Tourism Superstar for his work in making cycling more inclusive, particularly as he embodies essential Yorkshire qualities – kindness and a no-nonsense approach that really goes a long way to helping people achieve far more than they would have thought possible.
“Voting only takes a few moments and it would be fantastic to see Rob bring home the award for Yorkshire.”

A new E-Bike Charging Unit installed at Big Bear Bikes, Pickering
With thanks from a North York Moors National Park grant, Pickering Town CIC have installed a new e-bike Charging Unit at Big Bear Bikes, Pickering. The charging unit is FREE to use, which is an added bonus.
Located at the back entrance to Big Bear Bikes, it will provide some security whilst customers can enjoy shopping and a coffee in Pickering Town.
Whilst the Chargers have connections for some Bosch & Shimano motors, it is good to travel with your mains adaptor, as the Chargers both have two, three pin plugs outlets that will let any e -bike charge via its mains adaptor.
The district now have four of these e-bike Chargers;
Big Bear Bikes, Pickering
Dalby Forest Cycle Hub, Dalby
North York Moors National Park – Sutton Bank
North York Moors National Park – Danby
Hopefully this will encourage more e -bike visitors and tourism, and support sustainable e-bike transport in the area more generally.
